2017 SHRM Student Case Competition and Career Summit

        

The University of Memphis' Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter was awarded the first place prize in the Central Division of the SHRM national student case competition in Houston, Texas.  The team was composed of FCBE students Tiyana Childres, Patrick Crowder, Tori Hill, Kenneth Moment, Alexis Smith, and Tyler Stegall. The team competed against 19 other top schools from around the globe.  This was the first team from the University of Memphis to compete in almost 20 years.  As winners, the team received a plaque, a check for $2,500, and free registration to the annual conference in New Orleans.

MT|SHRM was among the 12 winners of the 2015 SHRM Pinnacle Awards that were announced November 20, 2015, during the SHRM Volunteer Leaders’ Summit in Washington, D.C.

MT|SHRM'S WINNING PROGRAM 

Bridging the Gap - Helping Employers Understand 
How to Effectively Hire Veterans and People with Disabilities

Developed In 2015, the program focused on providing support to veterans and people with disabilities. Events included a daylong Warrior Workforce Conference and an inaugural CapABILITY Career Expo where employers could recruit and talk with people with disabilities.

About the Pinnacle Awards Program
The Pinnacle Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding achievements in chapter/state council development and contributions to the advancement of effective human resource management.  

The 2015 winners were chosen from over 90 applications.  In addition to the formal recognition, MT|SHRM received a Crystal Award and $1,000.
